It’s an honor to introduce a new feature here at Football Highlights; the weekly Fantasy Premier League preview. With over 2 million users worldwide, FPL have in recent years grown to one of the biggest and most popular free reality games online.
Let’s immediately jump into what this little corner is all about. Every week you will be provided with my best substitution of the week and a couple of thoughts around the pick. But first of all, here’s a small recap after the two gameweeks so far:
The Fantasy Premier League 2011/12 season have started with few upsets so far and some of the star players have already looked sharp. Other noticeable facts; Newcastle have kept two clean sheets. Arsenal are yet to score in this campaign. Wolverhampton have had a fantastic start to the season.
Top-3 star players so far:
1) David Silva (MCI)
2) Kun Agüero (MCI)
3) Wayne Rooney (MUN)
Top-3 star bargains so far:
1) Ryan Taylor (NEW)
2) Matt Jarvis (WOL)
3) Michel Vorm (SWA)
Substitution of the week:
Shane Long (WBA) – 6.0
West Brom have a pretty ‘easy’ fixture list ahead of them – Stoke (H), Norwich (A), Swansea (H) – and despite losing their first two games, Fantasy points will be collected in these games, that’s a guarantee. They have a few options to choose between such as Ben Foster, Clinton Morrison or their chief creator in midfield, Chris Brunt. But I’ve singled out their striker and record signing Shane Long, who scored at Stamford Bridge last weekend. At a price of 6.0 Fantasy millions, this is a real bargain and a brilliant substitute to your two main strikers, which are probably more expensive as well.
So there you have it – good luck and enjoy yet another weekend of Premier League football!
