Sporting Kansas City, playing largely with a reserve side, took a 3-0 beating at the hands of French champion Montpellier on Tuesday night. Gaetan Charbonnier opened the scoring for the French team in the 39th minute after finishing off a cross from Marco Estrada. Sporting struggled to find the match and a brace after the break from Emanuel Herrera was more than enough to comfortably see out the result for Montpellier. The first goal came 72nd minute as he slotted home from a tight angle, and the second came from a rebound in stoppage time.
