Lucas confirms talks with Inter
Sao Paulo star Lucas Moura revealed that his father and his agent had talked to Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti and a move could be on the cards this summer. By ESPNSTAR.com staff Moura, 19, is currently with the Brazil squad preparing for the upcoming London Olympics football tournament. In Brazil, the winger has been in phenomenal form for Sao Paulo as he has scored 47 goals from 58 appearances in his relatively brief playing career. He has attracted the interest of the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid. The Brazilian, however, has left all business matters in the hands of his father and his agent and remains focused on football. “I cannot guarantee that I will stay until the end of my contract,” he told Estadao. “Much has changed and the situation is not up to me any more. “My dad and my agent have spoken with the president of Inter (Massimo Moratti), but they leave me alone to focus on my game. “Inter are a team where everyone wants to play, but now I want to focus on the Selecao and the Olympics. “Now I will go to the Olympics with my mind only on winning a gold medal.” The Daily Mail reports that Inter have tabled a £20 million offer for the midfielder. He’s being seen as a long-term replacement for Wesley Sneijder and Inter chief Moratti confirmed that the club is doing everything it can to secure the player’s signature. “As for Lucas, he’s not just a dream but an objective,” Moratti told a reporter. “We are certainly thinking about him, but we’ll have to see if there are the conditions in place to close the deal.” Inter have already signed Fredy Guarín, Rodrigo Palacio, Matías Silvestre and Samir Handanovic and are investing heavily in their playing squad in order to improve on their disappointing sixth-place finish from last season.
