Serie A giants Fiorentina are keen on Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt, according to sources in Italy. Kuyt is expected to leave Anfield in the summer after being overlooked on a number of occasions this season; the Dutch striker is also thought keen to experience another league and culture before he heads back to former club Feyenoord to see out his career. The workaholic Dutchman has long been a popular figure in Serie A, with Inter and Roma having paid him close attention in the past – both could yet rekindle that interest and the Giallorossi are keeping a particularly close watch on the striker’s situation. Fiorentina have been alerted to the fact that Liverpool could be ready to accept a fee of as little as €1M for a player whose contract at Anfield expires in 2013. Paying only a small fee for the Holland international would be key for La Viola to firm up their interest, as Kuyt would need to be paid around €4M per season. Fiorentina have endured a wretched campaign in Serie A so far and are desperate not to repeat the experience in 2012/13. Kuyt is viewed as a player who could strengthen La Viola’s attacking purpose and ensure that does not happen. The 31-year-old joined Liverpool from Feyenoord in 2006 for a fee of £10M, an amount that is believed to have been financed by then-Reds chairman David Moores.
